  • How do I switch to Half Marathon or 8k Training Team?  
    • Before September 3:  Sign into your RunSignup account > Profile > Manage Registration > Transfer to Another Race > Follow Prompts to Transfer to “2019 Sports Backers Half Marathon Training Team” or “2019 Sports Backers 8k Training Team”.  Make sure to pick Transfer Race, not Transfer Event. 
    • After September 3:  Email [email protected] with the following information:
      • Day you would like to train (Saturday or Sunday).
      • Level you would like to train (Novice or Intermediate, based on miles not speed).
      • Unisex t-shirt size (XS – XXL).
      • Estimated finish time for the half marathon.
  • What if I want train with MTT, but run the Markel Richmond Half Marathon or Allianz Partners 8k on race day?  Sign into RunSignUp > Profile > Upcoming Events > Manage Registration (next to the event) > Transfer Event (Make sure to click Transfer EVENT not Transfer Races) > Choose “Sports Backers Marathon Training Team switch to Half Marathon” or “Sports Backers Marathon Training Team switch to 8k”.
  • How do I add packet mailing, Run Richmond Premium Package, etc.? Sign into RunSignup > Profile > Upcoming Events > Manage Registration (next to event editing) > Add-On > Edit Quantity > Continue. Packet mailing is $25 per person through September 30 then increases to $30 until October 31.

Race Day

  • Where can I pick up my packet? Packet pick up will take place during the Health & Fitness Expo at the Arthur Ashe Athletic Center (3001A N. Arthur Ashe Boulevard, Richmond, Virginia 23230) on Thursday, November 14 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm and Friday, November 15 from 11:00 am – 9:00 pm.  More Expo details can be found here.
  • I can’t make the Expo, can I have my bib number and shirt mailed to me? Yes, we offer packet mailing for $25 per person through September 30 and $30 until October 31.  Packets cannot be mailed after October 31.  You can add packet mailing during registration or if you have already registered follow these steps:  Sign into RunSignup > Profile > Upcoming Events > Manage Registration (next to event editing) > Add-On > Edit Quantity > Continue.
  • Are there pacers? Yes, the Richmond Road Runners Club is proud to offer Pace Teams for the Marathon. To register in advance for a pacer finish time please visit Marathon Pacer sign-up page.  Need more information, please reach to Pace Team Coordinator Karen McCarthy or visit our website.
  • Are the course maps posted online?  Yes, the maps and course information can be found on our here.
  • Where can I park on race morning?  We have a list of parking lots on our website.  Also, you can save yourself the stress of finding parking by using Lyft.


  • Do you sell merchandise? Of course, visit the Sports Backers store!
  • Who is the official Event Charity? Our official event charity is Kids Run RVA.  Kid Run RVA is an initiative of Sports Backers that motivates thousands of young people across our region to run and be active on a regular basis. Sports Backers is committed to improving the health of our children by encouraging routine physical activity, which is critical to their long-term growth and well-being.  Kids Run RVA provides free training opportunities for youth of all ages, abilities and backgrounds as well as funding to support school-based run clubs and events. For schools with fewer resources, Kids Run RVA grants can additionally cover transportation and entry fees to Sports Backers’ events, which serve as celebrations of the students’ discipline and hard work.  You can donate here.
