Nov. 13 6 a.m. update: The course opening is still delayed but we are actively pushing water out of the way and will be back with another update within the hour.

Nov. 13 5 a.m. update: There is still some flooding on course but the water has receded a lot from yesterday. We are going to delay opening the course at 5 a.m. but will be back with an update by 6 a.m. (or sooner) to let you know when the course will be open. We are very hopeful to only be looking at a minor delay this morning.

2020 Participant Options

We’re so excited to offer you the chance to run on an official course no matter which distance you choose. While race day will look different this fall, we still want to provide you a unique and fun experience! Run your Richmond Marathon, Richmond Half Marathon, or Allianz Partners 8k at Dorey Park, the official race course, from Saturday, November 7 – Sunday November 22, or virtually on your own anytime in the month of November. Participate on the official chip timed course and upload your finish time via the RaceJoy app (or submit here) to receive an official finish time and be added to the event leaderboard. Other options are available if you cannot make this work, so please see our participant options below.

  1. Run the event at Dorey Park, the official race course.
    You’re in! If you plan to take part in either the Richmond Marathon, Richmond Half Marathon, or Allianz Partners 8k at Dorey Park, you do not need to take any action. As the official race course, Dorey Park will be chip timed and have a start and finish structure, mile markers, bottle refill stations, and restrooms. Each course will be open from 5:00 AM to 5:30 PM every day from Saturday, November 7 through Sunday, November 22. Use the RaceJoy app or upload your results here to be included on the event leaderboard.
  2. Complete your race virtually anytime during the month of November.
    If you are unable to participate on the official course at Dorey Park, you will have the opportunity to participate virtually anytime during the month of November. Run or walk the race distance you have registered for on your own using the RaceJoy app or upload your results here to be added to the event leaderboard.
  3. Defer your registration to next year’s event at no cost.*
    You may defer your registration from the 2020 Richmond Marathon, Richmond Half Marathon or Allianz Partners 8k to the 2021 or 2022 event. You may only defer to and from the same event distance. Deferred registrations may not be transferred to another person. The deadline to defer is Saturday, October 31. The deadline to defer for the Marathon Training Team is August 31. The deadline to defer for the Half Marathon Training Team is September 30.
  4. Credit your race entry to another Sports Backers event.*
    You will have the option to credit the cost of your race entry fee to another Sports Backers event that takes place through November 1, 2021. Please submit your request here. (Not applicable for Marathon or Half Marathon Training Team participants)
  5. Donate your race entry to Sports Backers.*
    As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, donations are vital to our mission of inspiring active living in all corners of our community. Your support allows us to: Advocate for safe and accessible bike and pedestrian infrastructure, offer affordable free fitness classes, support running clubs at area schools, and develop fun, new participatory events for our entire community. The deadline to donate is October 31, please submit your request here.
