The 40th running of the event is set for Saturday, November 11, 2017. The 8k gets underway at 7 a.m., followed by the Half Marathon at 7:30 a.m. and the Marathon at 7:45 a.m.
You can register online or print out a registration form (available on the Registration page) and mail it in with payment.
Only one runner per entry form. There will be NO entry fee refunds or transfers.
There is NO Race Day entry or packet pick up.
No, we encourage the seasoned and first time marathoner (including walkers) alike to take part. Our course, however, is only open for 7 hours. This requires a 16:02 per mile pace.
The half marathon course is open for 4 hours.
There is a maximum number of 10,000 for each race.

Entry fees are non-refundable; race numbers and entries cannot be transferred to person. No exceptions. This means once we have received your entry, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate, and you may not give or sell your number or timing chip to anyone else. Anyone found participating with another person’s number will be disqualified and both people will be barred from future Sports Backers events, including the Ukrop's Monument Avenue 10k and Anthem Richmond Marathon.
If you are already signed up for one race and want to switch to the other (i.e., the marathon to the half marathon), you may do so online through October 31 (assuming the race you want to switch into has not already reached its capacity). There is a $10 fee to do so, along with any applicable entry fee increase.
You may defer your entry from the 2017 VCU Health 8k, MArkel Richmond Half Marathon or Anthem Richmond Marathon to the 2018 event. The fee to defer an entry is $10 for the 8k and $20 for the half or full marathons. You may only defer to and from the same event: 2017 8k to 2018 8k, 2017 Half to 2018 Half or 2017 Full to 2018 Full. Deferred entries may not be transferred to another person. Refunds will not be issued under any circumstances. All deferrals must be done by October 31, 2017. There will be no deferrals after this date or at the race expo. You may only defer an entry once (i.e., if you defer your 2017 entry to 2018, you will not be able to defer it in 2018 to 2019). To defer your entry, click here
Packet pick-up will take place at the Race Expo held at the Arthur Ashe Athletic Center on Thursday, November 9 from 5 to 9 p.m. and on Friday, November 10 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
THERE IS NO RACE DAY PACKET PICK UP! A photo ID is required to pick up your race packet. You may pick up a race packet for another pre-registered runner, provided you have a copy of their photo ID.
Have your bib number and shirt mailed to you!
Can’t make it to the expo to pick up your packet? We offer the option of paying to have your bib number and shirt mailed to you! The cost is $25 per person through September 30 and is available only when you register online. From October 1-31, the fee is $30 and is only available when you email firstname.lastname@example.org. No packet mailing will be offered after October 31, 2017.
Yes, iPods and other personal listening devices are permitted. We ask that you please remember that you are sharing the roads with other participants and, in some cases, vehicular traffic. Always be aware of your surroundings.

Kids Run RVA is an initiative of Sports Backers, the nationally recognized non-profit organizer of the Anthem Richmond Marathon, that motivates thousands of young people across our region to run and be active on a regular basis. Sports Backers is committed to improving the health of our children by encouraging routine physical activity, which is critical to their long-term growth and well-being.
Kids Run RVA provides free training opportunities for youth of all ages, abilities and backgrounds as well as funding to support school-based run clubs and events. For schools with fewer resources, Kids Run RVA grants may also cover shoes, transportation and event entry fees.
Donations are critical to the program’s success. Each time a child laces up his or her shoes, you will be giving them the most important gift of all-a path to good health and fitness!
A donation to Kids Run RVA of at least $50 will automatically reduce your race entry fee by $20.
The Anthem Richmond Marathon utilizes the ChronoTrack "B-Tag", a light-weight disposable timing device that comes attached to your race bib and requires no additional application. Do not remove the timing tag from the back of your bib!
POWERade is the official replenisher of the Anthem Richmond Marathon. Mountain Blast Powerade (the blue stuff) is served at every water stop. Honey Stinger is the official energy gel. Assorted flavors (Gold, Chocolate (caffeinated), and Organic Gel Fruit Smoothie) are offered at Miles 14 and 21 on the marathon course and Mile 8 on the half marathon course.
