The NTELOS
8k now features a tour of some of Richmond’s
most beautiful and historic neighborhoods and is perfect
for runners and walkers of all abilities who want
to be a part of a great running event. The same first-class
service that makes us “America’s Friendliest
Marathon” elevates the NTELOS 8k to a premier
experience for all participants.
From packet
pick-up through the post-race celebration, you'll
be greeted with smiles and encouragement by race staff,
volunteers and spectators. Enjoy the musical performers
and spirit groups along the course and be sure to
leave plenty of time for the great Ellwood Thompson’s
Finish Line Festival in Shockoe Slip.
Be a part of the excitement.

Every 8k runner receives a special technical
race shirt and a medal at the finish line and
is admitted to a special post-race celebration
with plenty of free food, drink and lots of
smiles and pats on the back.
Water stops
will be positioned at the start and at two other
locations. Diamond Springs water and Mountain
Blast-flavored POWERade will be available at
water stops on the race course. Port-o-johns
will be stationed at the Start/Finish and adjacent
to every water stop. Digital clocks will be
stationed at every mile. Medical attention
is available along the course.
|
| |
The NTELOS 8k uses the computerized
ChampionChip timing system. Chip timing
allows each runner's time to start when they
reach the starting line. Your finish time
is calculated precisely when you cross the finish
line. Runners are provided with a chip
in their race packet and must return it at the
finish line. In case of withdrawal or
cancellation, a $30 replacement fee will be
assessed if the chip is not returned within
15 days after the race. Runners who already
own a chip may use it by filling in the chip
number on the entry form.

Donate Life is the proud beneficiary of the
SunTrust Richmond Marathon, Half Marathon
and NTELOS 8k, working to increase organ and
tissue donation. Through educational efforts,
we encourage all Americans to say “Yes” to
organ and tissue donation and record a donation
decision. One organ donor can save 7 lives
and one tissue donor can help more than 50
people. Today you can make a difference by
signing up as a donor at the DMV, signing
a donor card, and talking to your family.
Together we can save lives. Donate Life
is a program of the non-profit agencies UNOS
and LifeNet
.
